The wheels will be a turnin’ a bit quicker

So I need all the help I can get in tackling the 120+ miles a day that we have planned on our Land’s End to John O’Groats 7 day odyssey. To that endI have just put in an order for my most frivolous bike purchase yet.

So I need all the help I can get in tackling the 120+ miles a day that we have planned on our Land’s End to John O’Groats 7 day odyssey. To that endI have just put in an order for my most frivolous bike purchase yet.

I have been looking at getting a new set of wheel since about March time and had planned to get something from the Mavic Cosmic Carbone range. These would have been a massive upgrade to the Fulcrum Racing 5s that are on there now, which are fine as training/commuting wheels but not up to much on long distances or sportivs.

Last week however I learned of some british guys who have set up a company called Strada who build wheels to order. So I had a chat to Jonathan there this week who made some well chosen suggestions on what they could do for me. After the conversation with him I have now talked myself into a pimp new set of ENVE rims with gorgeous Chris King hubs and have already paid the deposit.

Hopefully this new addition to my set up will make the riding that little bit easier and get us to base camp a few minutes earlier each day. Apart from looking the part of course. Can’t wait to take delivery of them in a couple of weeks time.
