In answer to the previous posts’ question, it’s damn risky relying on brain power alone to keep track of laps completed. I was enjoying the bike so much, I carried on for another half turn, so lost time on the field.

It was a great race though. Enjoyed the compact nature of the course, great for spectators, and although it was a ferociously early start (our wave started at 7am) i was all done by 9:30, well before the mercury had worked it’s way north.

I couldn’t help glancing across at the horses and foals trotting in adjacent fields, superimposed against the industrial skyline, as we powered along like 2 wheeled scalectrics. It would be a good place to return to and explore.

Just glad to get through the run with most of my skin left on my feet. Serious triathletes don’t have time to don socks for the run stage, but I allowed myself this little luxury, and was glad I did.

No injuries to report and feeling good for the big off in 2 weeks. Bring it on!!!
